Hollingsworth exhibit of landscape paintings begins Friday

Lawrence Hollingsworth, a native of Norfolk and now longtime Gloucester resident, will present a collection of landscape paintings at Stewart Gallery on Main Street from this Friday through Saturday, Nov. 16.
“Quiet Awe” opens with a reception from 5-7 p.m. Friday. The artist will be in attendance to meet guests. The reception is open to the public at no cost.
Hollingsworth first became interested in art while traveling through Europe and Great Britain as an antiques dealer. He visited the great museums and studied the work of both past and contemporary painters, trying his hand at painting on a part-time basis. When the hobby became more important than the business, he decided to become a professional artist some 20 years ago, a release said. He sold the furniture dealership and never looked back.
Although both still life and architectural subjects appear in his repertoire, Hollingsworth is best known for his landscapes—both pastoral and seaside.
