Holes-in-one

Golfing buddies Jim Leigh of Gloucester, at left, and Scotty Fulk of Chesapeake, did something almost unheard of in the annals of the sport last month—scoring a pair of holes-in-one on back-to-back swings. The amazing feat happened on May 26 at the James River Country Club in Newport News. First, Leigh made his hole-in-one on the par 3 17th hole, using an 8 iron to drive the ball 128 yards from the tee to the cup. After a brief celebration, Fulk was next on the tee. He also chose an 8 iron for his shot and another celebration soon ensued. The holes-in-one were the first for both men. The shots were witnessed by Tim Leigh of Gloucester and Julia Murphy of Rota, Spain.
