Employees and supporters of the Hole in the Wall Waterfront Grill on Gwynn’s Island gathered at the corner of Main Street and Buckley Hall Road at Hyco Corner last Wednesday afternoon to let the public know how they feel about the Mathews Board of Supervisors’ threat to board up or demolish the restaurant if the owners, Mac Casale and Dean Tsamouras, don’t agree to pay for structural work to the tune of $307,692. Among those protesting the supervisors’ directive were, kneeling, Sara Sawyer and her son, Finnley; standing in all rows from left, Courtney Mahoney, Caleb Burford, Front of House Manager Tom Sawyer, Bob Hoefer (partly obscured in back), Auggie Morse and her cat Ralphie Monster, Dana Strigle, Charisma Cullison, Connie Hoefer, Courtney Poole, Chloe Burford, Katelynn Blake, Skyller Worley, Beth Armistead, Nikki Minter, Allana Abram, Nate Abram Jr. and Chef Heather Minter.
