Joan West, a member of the Gloucester Ladies’ Wednesday Bridge Club, was the winner on Wednesday, July 7, with a score of 6,840, the highest score she had ever earned and the highest score that longtime members of the club could remember. The games were held at Olivia’s in the Village. The group plays five games of six hands each. This historic event was witnessed by bridge club members Beverly Kearney, Loretta Jackson, Jacky Pittman and Mary Helliesen, as well as substitute players for the day Carol Lawrence, June James and Veronica Re. Regular members Pat Grubbs, Charla Barnard, Billye Dalton and Marcia Hargis (permanent substitute member) were absent.
