One of NASA’s “Hidden Figures,” featured in a movie about human “computers” whose mathematical work helped launch men into space, is scheduled to speak in Gloucester on Saturday, Feb. 15.
Dr. Christine M. Darden will be the guest speaker at Black Men Cooking, an event featuring about 30 chefs who prepare and serve favorite dishes in a fundraiser for scholarships given by the Epsilon Eta Chapter of Iota Phi Lambda Sorority, Inc.
The event will be held from 1-4 p.m. at the Moody Event Center in White Marsh Shopping Center, located at 4888 George Washington Memorial Highway.
This is an annual Black History Month event for the chapter.
A recipient of the Congressional Gold Medal, Darden had a 40-year career at NASA, starting her work at the Langley Research Center in Hampton.
