Helena Chapman Mason of Gloucester, passed away on Tuesday, August 23, 2024. Helena, affectionately known as “Momma Lena,” was a lifelong member of Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Jacksonville, Florida, and an honorary deaconess at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church in Jacksonville.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ophelia Lewis of Yorktown, Va.; her father, Christie Chapman of Gloucester, Va.; her devoted husband of 64 years, William H. “Bill” Mason Sr.; three sons, William H. Mason Jr., Ronnie J. Mason Sr., and an infant at birth.

She leaves to cherish her memory, 10 children; one brother, Robert Foster Sr. (Ada) of New Orleans, La.; one brother-in-law, Kelvin Forrest (Elizabeth) of Foster, Va.; a host of grandchildren, great-, and great-grandchildren, relatives, and friends.

A viewing will be held at Forrest Brothers Funeral Home on Friday, September 6, 2024 from 5-7 p.m. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Newington Baptist Church, 6169 Main Street, Gloucester, Va. 23061. Services will be conducted by the Rev. Henry H. Wright Jr. of New Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, Jacksonville, Fla. Interment will be held at Poplar Woods Cemetery, Cardinal, Va.
