Helen T. Verbyla, 102, longtime resident of Manville, New Jersey, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, June 30, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1922 in Laflin, Pennsylvania. She married John Verbyla on December 31, 1950 and they lived in Madison, Wisconsin; Buffalo, New York; Springfield, Massachusetts, and Manville, New Jersey. In May 2014, she moved to Sanders Assisted Living in Gloucester, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband of 62 years, John G. Verbyla; parents, Stanley and Theodora Montville; four brothers, Joseph Montville, Peter Montville, Adam Montville and Frank Montville, and three sisters, Theodora Montville, Evelyn Chappell and Stella Simalunis.
She and her late husband were members of “The Greatest Generation” by way of their service in World War II, John in the U.S. Army in New Guinea, and Helen alongside other women in the General Electric factory in Bridgeport, Connecticut.
Helen is survived by two sons, Paul Verbyla and his wife Elsa of Mathews, and David Verbyla and his wife Becky Anderson of Polson, Montana, and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family would like to give special thanks to the nurses and certified nursing assistants who provided loving care for Helen at Sanders Assisted Living and Heron Cove 2 during the last 10 years of her life.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Friday, July 12, at Church of Francis de Sales, Mathews.
