Hazel Iris Hurst, 99, wife of the late Charles Maxwell Hurst and a resident of Gloucester, passed away Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Riverside Convalescent Center in Mathews.
She was the daughter of the late William Temple Soles and the late Josephine Sweary Soles. She was a member of Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church.
She is survived by four children, Mary Geraldine Cook of Dawsonville, Ga., Carolyn H. Renaldi and her husband Captain Richard of Gloucester, James Maxwell Hurst and his wife Janie of Mathews, Va., Sandra H. Ward and her husband George T. of Mathews; 20 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was predeceased by two sons, Charles Lee Hurst and William Howard Hurst; a daughter, Shirley Ann Dezern; a son-in-law, Donald E. Cook; four brothers and three sisters.
Funeral services will be held Monday, July 2, 2012 at 1 p.m. at Windsor Gardens Mausoleum in Dutton, Va., with the Rev. Harry Loyd officiating.
