Women’s Health & Wellness, located at Abingdon Office Park, Hayes, has undergone a number of changes in recent months.

The office of Dr. Joel E. Backer offers general gynecological and women’s wellness checks. Backer is assisted full-time by two licensed practical nurses—Wendy West of Mathews and Jessica Hogge of Gloucester.

Hogge handles the general nursing duties in the office, Backer said, while West offers some specialty services such as micro-dermabrasion, using a machine to cleanse the face with or without crystals. Also, the process can be used to clear skin on the chest, neck and hands, West said, and results in smoother, younger looking skin.

Backer said West soon will offer facials. To support skin health, West said they have expanded the lines of cleaners, moisturizers and Retinol they stock for sale.
