Haven Beach in Mathews, closed since March, reopened to the public last week, with 40,000 cubic yards of new sand placed along the shoreline from the recently-completed dredging project at Hole in the Wall, the channel that connects Milford Haven to the Chesapeake Bay. Mathews County cautioned the public that, with work on the construction of offshore breakwaters continuing through June, anyone swimming at the beach should use caution and stay clear of the barge and equipment.
