Harry Lee Gilbert, age 83, of Hardyville, died at Riverside Walter Reed Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 26, 2022. Harry was born on Feb. 1, 1939 to the late Elbert and Pauline Gilbert. Harry proudly served in the United States Air Force working in avionics. He finished his military career serving in the Air National Guard. He had a love for farming and construction and worked many years in partnership with his brother running Gilbert Brothers. He actively served many years as a member of the LMVFD and the VFW. Harry was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Thomas B. Gilbert. Harry is survived by his wife, Linda Gilbert, and his children, Raymond Gilbert, Lydia Gilbert, and Wayne Gilbert (Rebekah). Grandchildren, Austin Lucas, Kendall Lucas, Ray Gilbert, and step-grandchildren, William Headley, Kody King, and Joel Rawles, also survive him, along with his sister, Pamela Forrest (Marshall). The family received friends on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2022, from 11 a.m.-noon at Harmony Grove Baptist Church, with a service beginning at noon conducted by Dr. Barbara Filling and the Rev. Edward Harrow. Burial with military honors followed at Windsor Gardens Cemetery. The family invited friends to return to the church fellowship hall for a reception after the burial.
