Hanora Ryan Campbell of Yorktown, died at the Gloucester House on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the age of 86. Nora was a native of Ireland, along with her husband John Patrick Campbell who preceded her in death. She retired from the civil service, and was a faithful member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. In addition to her husband, son, Shawn Patrick Campbell, and daughter, Marian Livingston, preceded her in death. She is survived by daughters, Kathleen Campbell-Marble (Gregory) and Gwen R. Huffman; son-in-law; Jerel Livingston; grandchildren, Ryan Gagnon, Taylor Livingston, Jason Marble, Christopher Huffman, Mike Mansfield and Bruce Mansfield; granddaughter; Caitlin Mellish, and great-granddaughter, Hailey Marble. As the youngest of 10 children, Nora will be missed by her many nieces and nephews. Nora started her adventures in life when she left home in Ireland and immigrated to the United States. Alongside her husband, their travels took her to Europe and Africa. She climbed the Rock of Gibraltar, camped in the Atlas Mountains, and rode camels in the Sahara Desert. As an active Catholic, she found a Catholic church in which to attend Mass in the remotest of places. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters Association and her faith pilgrimages took her to holy sites in Israel, Mexico, Ireland, Spain, and France. Nora received a Presidential Commendation for her work during Desert Storm. Most importantly, she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, at Hogg Funeral Home from 6-7:30 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection conducted by the Rev. Mike Joly will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 315 Harris Grove Lane, Yorktown, Va. 23692 on Wednesday, August 16, 2023. Interment will follow in Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Providence Road, Hayes, Va. 23072. The family requests contributions may be made in Nora’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association, 4600 Cox Road, Suite 130, Glen Allen, Va. 23060.
