Hands-On History Day at Christ Church set for July 19

Historic Christ Church & Museum, Weems, will hold its annual Hands-On History Day on Friday, July 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children ages 6-12 are invited to explore the history of Christ Church and colonial Virginia through a variety of exciting hands-on activities.
Participants will have the opportunity to make a brick by hand, write with a quill pen and make a grave rubbing inside the 1735 church. They will also dig for artifacts, play colonial games, and make a silhouette portrait.
Inside the museum, children can become an “undertaker,” or colonial builder, by constructing a brick wall, an arch with a keystone and a king-post roof truss. Participants will enjoy a pizza party for lunch and take home a souvenir Hands-On History swag bag and Museum Activity Book.
“Hands-On History Day” is a free event offered through the Foundation for Historic Christ Church’s education programs. All participants must pre-register and space is limited. To register or for more information, contact...
