Ham radio event

After a successful third annual Middle Peninsula Amateur Radio Club, Hamfest this past weekend, members of the radio club will be moving to Walter Reed’s Birthplace this Saturday, April 15, in conjunction with Gloucester-Mathews 90th Historic Garden Week celebration. Once more, members will share information about the history of Gloucester County over the airways with the world. Visitors are welcome to attend the site at 4021 Hickory Fork Road after 10 a.m. as the house will be open and learn something about both Dr. Reed’s life and Garden Week. Reed was born at Belroi in 1851 and was hailed as the conqueror of Yellow Fever. The cabin in which he was born is now owned and operated by the Fairfield Foundation who administers preservation activities and educational programs at the site. Shown here are club members Will Hrachovina, Danny Wright, Bobby Forrest and Kenny Skirvin, from left.
