A group of almost 200 Baptists whose churches are affiliated with the Mid-Tidewater Baptist Association gathered Sunday afternoon at Gwynn’s Island Baptist Church for a musical concert.
The choir included more than 40 singers from 14 churches in the association.
The Rev. David Medlen performed a piano prelude before the concert. Dale Saunders of West Point led the choir; Nancy Saunders accompanied on the piano.
Special music was performed by a children’s group from the Corrotoman Baptist Church. They added a unique flavor to the concert, as did the enthusiastic singing of the gathered congregation, said the Rev. Dr. Ed Jordan, pastor at the island church. He said this is the first time recently that the MBTA has presented such an event.
The Rev. Eddie Heath, director of missions for the association, brought the event into reality, along with the association’s program committee, Jordan said.
