Guitarist Stephen Bennett, a longtime Gloucester resident who now lives in West Cornwall, Connecticut, won the International Finger Style Guitar Championship on Sept. 19 in the Walnut Valley Festival, held annually in Winfield, Kansas. Bennett is the only person to have won both this competition and the National Flatpicking Championship, which he won in 1987. In 2003, while living in Gloucester, Bennett started The Harp Guitar Gathering, an annual convention for the instrument that will be back in Williamsburg this November for the 22nd year.
