Guinea Jubilee returns Friday, Saturday

The 42nd annual Guinea Jubilee will be held Friday and Saturday in and around the Abingdon Ruritan Club festival grounds, Bena.
The jubilee kicks off at 3 p.m. Friday with the opening of the arts and crafts and food booths. Slapnation will perform on the main stage, beginning at 7 p.m., with Friday’s festivities ending at 10 p.m.
Saturday’s activities start early, beginning with the 7 a.m. opening of registration for the Guinea Jubilee 5K and Kids Crabby Fun Run at Buck’s Store. The 5K starts at 8, with the Crabby Fun Run following at 8:30.
Festival booths open at 9, as well as the Guinea Jubilee Car Show, which will be held on the Abingdon Volunteer Fire and Rescue back lot, adjacent to the festival grounds.
This year’s grand marshal, Betty Lou Setterholm Sammons, will lead the Guinea Jubilee Firemen’s Parade at noon, which makes its way up Guinea Road from Union Baptist Church to the Abingdon Ruritan Club.
