Guinea Heritage Day to be held Sunday

Guinea Heritage Day, a celebration of all things Guinea, will be held on Sunday afternoon at the Abingdon Ruritan Club, Bena. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the program begins at 2.
This year’s theme will be the Guinea Heritage Driving Tour, with display tables on each of the map stops.
The map was released earlier this year, with a dozen stops that highlight the area’s natural beauty and historic significance. Stops on the tour include Buck’s Store Museum, Big Island Seafoods and Retail Shop, Achilles Masonic Lodge, Bena Country Store, several scenic overlooks, as well as three churches.
While facts about each stop are featured on the brochure, the online version features recorded voiceovers for each of the stops. Lending their voices to the tour are Gloucester County Museums Coordinator Robert Kelly, Ginny Snowden, Marion Randall, Beulah Colon, Hamilton Williams, Gloucester Tourism Coordinator Susan Ammons and Gloucester Information System Technician Candice Smith.
