Ten wrestlers from Gloucester’s Guerrilla Wrestling Association competed in Saturday’s 2025 VAWA Kids Folkstyle State Championships Tournament at Roanoke College. Wrestlers competing included Cooper Brockenbrough, Cash Garland, Malachi Cabral, August Jeffrey, Parker Scruggs, Grayson Bell, Hunter Young, Lendyn Laster, Parker Joyce and Bodie Miclette. On Sunday, Genesis Pluim competed in the 2025 VAWA Girls Folkstyle State Championships, also at Roanoke College. State placers included Cabral who came in third in the 8U 70 lbs. bracket; Jeffrey, who placed sixth in the 10U 84 lbs. bracket; Miclette, who placed fifth in the 16U 215 lbs. bracket; and Pluim, who placed fourth in the girls’ 10U 46-49 lbs. bracket.
