Gregory Boyd Brown, “Squirrel,” age 57, of Hayes, died at his home on Wednesday, July 5, 2023. Greg was born on December 9, 1965, and graduated from Gloucester High School class of 1984. He was employed with the City of Newport News as the maintenance foreman for city streets. An avid hunter and lifelong member of the Cumnor Hunt Club, he loved fishing, as well as vegetable gardening. Father Troy Woody Brown; paternal grandparents, Boyd and Bertha Brown, and maternal grandparents, Luther and Alice Lynn, preceded him in death. Greg is survived by his mother, Elizabeth Lynn Brown; brother, Jeff Brown, and a host of friends. The family received friends at Hogg Funeral Home on Sunday, July 9, 2023, from 3-4 p.m. A 10:30 a.m. graveside service, conducted by Pastor Art Wolz, was held on Monday, July 10, 2023, at Rosewell Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
