Once again the Central Village Homemakers extend their best wishes to all for a happy and good eating 2013 by sharing their recipes. This organization was the first homemakers club to be established in Mathews, in 1975, and it has been a strong influence in the community these 37 years. By no means have the members slowed down. These 45 women provide education on family and women’s issues, as well as opportunities for leadership development within the community. Over the years they have well exceeded the goals set by the Homemakers organization in 1923.
Once a year the Central Village ladies celebrate and invite guests to a Christmas luncheon. New officers are installed, gifts are exchanged, and the table is laden with dishes, bringing praise from all epicureans. But with this celebration for themselves, their goals as a group are not pushed aside. Toys for the Mathews Christmas Shop and donations for the Food Pantry are present in abundance.
