Gray appointed principal of Mathews Elementary

A month after accepting the resignation of Mathews Elementary School principal Alexis Foster, the Mathews County School Board approved the appointment of Cynthia Gray as his replacement.
The appointment was made at the conclusion of Tuesday’s meeting, which was held in the Mathews High School media center.
Gray has served as assistant principal of the elementary school for the past 13 years where she has also held a division leadership role as Coordinator of Federal Programs, superintendent of schools Nancy Welch said in announcing the appointment. Gray served under both Foster and Foster’s predecessor, Drew Greve, who is currently MHS principal.A former Instructional Support Team Facilitator, Gray has been active in the School-University Research Network (SURN) Principals’ Academy at the College of William and Mary.
