Grace Covenant Presbyterian Church, Gloucester, will offer its traditional patriotic Independence Day Celebration in the church sanctuary at 10 a.m. Thursday, July 4.
The celebration, now in its 10th year, will feature the fiddle music of 1776, patriotic standards for group singing such as The National Anthem, and America the Beautiful, a reading from the Declaration of Independence, a choral Tribute to the Armed Forces, the piano duet “Stars and Stripes Forever,” and the reading of Paul Harvey’s essay, “Our Lives, Our Fortunes, and Our Sacred Honor.”
The day’s festivities will close with a roll call of the signers of the Declaration of Independence and a tolling of the church bell to honor their memory and bravery. The public is invited to join this celebration which has become a popular Gloucester tradition, a release said.
