Grace Carlton Lawson, 88, of Adner, Virginia, passed away on September 2, 2023 at her home surrounded by her family and friends. She was a wonderful homemaker and loved taking care of her family. Grace was a longtime member of Shackelfords Chapel United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Lawson; parents, Wilford and Blanche Carlton, and a grandson-in-law, John Hart.

Grace is survived by a daughter, Kay Lumpkin (Richard); a granddaughter, Jennifer Hart; a great-granddaughter, Grace Emma Hart; two sisters, Rebecca Rilee and Dorothy Lawson (Frank); a brother, Ronald Carlton (Barbara); a brother-in-law, Joe Ripchick; several nieces and nephews, and many friends.

A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, September 5 at Vincent Funeral Home, 417 11th Street, West Point, Va. 23181. Interment followed in Shackelfords Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family received friends an hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
