Award-winning Pamunkey artist Ethan Brown will give a talk about his artistic journey and demonstrate the process of creating art on dried gourds during a presentation Saturday at Arts on Main. The workshop will take place from 1-4 p.m. at the gallery at 6580 Main Street, Gloucester. Brown’s work often features local flora, fauna, and images from Pamunkey history and culture, said a press release. It has been widely exhibited, including at the Valentine Museum and the Virginia Museum of Fine Art. Participants will be given gourds and supplies so they can follow along with the demonstration, which includes woodburning a line into the gourd before applying paints and stains. The class is for ages 13 and older. The cost is $35. Register at gloucesterartsonmain.org/events/native-gourds.
