Emmanuel United Methodist Church in Bohannon is the newest site of a Good News Pantry. Church members Karen and Gil Goode contacted pantry organizer Jan Towne to have a box placed at the church.
The purpose of the Good News Pantry is to provide donated food to people in need. Food donated must have a long shelf-life, and must be able to sit in cold and hot temperatures. Towne recommends people to stick to donating store-bought goods.
Towne has placed several other pantries at other churches in Mathews including Locust Grove United Methodist and St. Thomas Anglican. It is her goal to have more placed throughout the county and if your church is interest in hosting a Good News Pantry, call Jan Towne at 804-815-5584.
