In a fairly short distance, after crossing bridges over two rivers and enjoying the scenery along the way, you come to Irvington; and on Lancaster Drive you find Rappahannock-Westminster Canterbury (RWC), a continuing care retirement community.
In its 30th year of operation, RWC recently held a special oyster roast as a promotional service. The invitation read: “Enjoy local fare including oysters prepared by Rappahannock Oyster Company along with RWC’s Dining Services’ selections.”
Mike Spurlock prepared and served the oysters, and in RWC’s kitchen were Dorothy (Dot) Taylor, sous chef, and Genita Shearin, assistant director, both Northumberland ladies, who were responsible for the “Dining Services’ Fair.”
