GMHS welcomes Brown as its new executive director

After nearly six months of the position being vacant, the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society welcomed Charles Brown to the role of executive director March 13.
Brown most recently served in the role of executive director at the Terre Haute (Indiana) Humane Society, but has spent the past 25 years working in animal shelters all over the country. Brown decided to apply for the executive director position at GMHS to raise his sons in a smaller community. His family will be joining him in May.
One of Brown’s goals is to get GMHS “more engaged in the community.” He said that there are “a lot of exciting programs staff has been able to get started.”
According to GMHS Communications & Development Coordinator Caitlin Donnelly, the shelter now has more than 300 volunteers, but Brown stressed that additional volunteers are always needed to help fundraise and facilitate off-site adoption events. People are also needed to help foster pets, especially kittens as kitten season is just beginning.
