“There’s a lot of confusion on how the Pet Pantry works.”
The Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society’s Pet Pantry is a community service operated by the shelter that provides individuals and families going through financial struggles with food for their pets, according to GMHS Communications & Development Manager Caitlin Donnelly and Assistant Manager Jasmine Jutras.
“It’s intended to be a temporary service,” said Jutras.
Those in need of the Pet Pantry can visit the shelter during its normal business hours and fill out an application. More often than not, the new client will leave with food for their pet that same day. The shelter has dog and cat food in the Pet Pantry and can sometimes provide food for small animals.
“We will help provide dry food for them,” said Jutras.
