This past Christmas, 11-year-old Kennedy Burke of Gloucester asked for money instead of gifts, so she could purchase pet supplies to donate to the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society. She delivered the donations to the shelter on Jan. 18, which were equivalent to approximately $1,000. Burke’s collection took up the whole donation bin and side wall of the shelter’s lobby.
