Between now and the end of January, the Gloucester-Mathews Humane Society is seeking to raise $100,000 in monetary donations to receive a matching gift being offered by a pair of anonymous donors.
The shelter is also having its online Mission “Paws”-ible Auction from now until Jan. 18.
In conjunction with the online auction, virtual tickets are on sale that offer a gala-to-go bag filled with treats for both people and pets. They will be available for pickup at the shelter on Jan. 18.
The auction and matching gift challenge fundraisers will help with shelter operating expenses.
According to GMHS Communications & Development Manager Caitlin Donnelly, the cost to keep the shelter running is more than $7,000 per day, including $200,000 per year for medicine and medical supplies and over $40,000 every year just to keep the lights and heat on.
