People with Medicaid should prepare for possible changes to their coverage this year, and Gloucester Mathews Care Clinic staff is available to help.On May 11, the federal government ended the public health emergency put in place at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act awarded federal funds to state Medicaid programs across America and required states to keep people insured through the health emergency.
Now that the public health emergency has ended, this additional federal funding for Medicaid expansion has ended as well, and every Medicaid patient will once again be subject to eligibility review.
This process will occur over the next year, but being prepared is critical for patients, especially those managing chronic health conditions and/or those who take daily prescribed medications, according to Maureen Crone, GMCC Director of Development and Marketing.
