Gloucester County Circuit Court will have a new clerk in 2021. Cathy Dale, who has served as Chief Deputy Clerk since 2008, was sworn in Tuesday as the court’s interim clerk following the retirement of Margaret Walker. Walker has a career of 44 years in court administration, serving for 11½ years with the Supreme Court of Appeals of West Virginia before coming to Gloucester. She worked 32 years, five months in Gloucester Circuit Court, the last 12 as clerk after winning her first election in November 2007. She won reelection in 2015, and her current term expires in January 2024. Originally from Hampton, Dale moved to Gloucester after being appointed Chief Deputy Clerk. She began working with attorneys in 1983. “It’s important to me we maintain the integrity of this office,” Dale said, continuing the work of her predecessor. “We have the most fantastic office” with everyone working in the best interest of the public and “we want to keep it that way,” she said.
