Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue to hold open house Oct. 16 at Station 1

Gloucester Volunteer Fire and Rescue will hold an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 16, at Station 1 on Main Street.
Offered in conjunction with National Fire Prevention Week, the open house will feature this year’s national slogan: “Fire Won’t Wait, Plan Your Escape,” according to a press release from Fire Prevention Officer Lt. Tony Villani.
Everyone who drops by the open house will be provided with a Home Escape Plan template to take home and put in place with everyone living in the home, said the release. Visitors will also be able to tour the station, learn how to identify and mitigate fire and life safety hazards, and learn to effectively use a fire extinguisher.
Children will be able to take a ride in a fire truck and will receive fire helmets, stickers, and coloring books, said the release. Fire and life safety brochures will be available to take home, as well.
