Gloucester to use speed enforcement cameras at schools

A representative of a Maryland-based information technology company and Gloucester Sheriff Darrell Warren discussed options for adding fixed mounted radars in school zones in the county at last week’s meeting of the Gloucester County Board of Supervisors.
After discussion, the board passed a resolution supporting the installation of photo speed enforcement cameras at all nine school zones in the county.
“Although we emphasize school safety, the reality of it is that the deputies have many other responsibilities and not to mention there are more schools than we have deputies on patrol every day,” Warren said in introducing Martin Plank, vice president of sales for Altumint, at last Wednesday’s meeting, which was held in the colonial courthouse.
Warren talked about how Altumint had set up temporary systems at Petsworth and Achilles elementary schools at the request of the sheriff’s office. He went on to discuss the data collected.
