Gloucester supervisors took a deep dive into the use of Artificial Intelligence, as heads of various county departments provided an update on AI, originally planned as a possible topic during a board retreat.
The presentation was conducted during the board’s Feb. 4 meeting, which was held in the colonial courthouse.
County staff provided details on AI products that are currently in use, safety and security, and information from departments utilizing AI to benefit customers and citizens.
Britton Hogge, software analyst for the county, shared slides on AI in general and how the county is using those tools. He said existing apps include AI elements, tools and services. He said that operating systems are slowly introducing similar features. Apple Intelligence, Copilot, Adobe/Canva and Google Search. Financial services, e-commerce, streaming services, and text prediction also use elements of AI, he said.
