Lora A. Presson of Newport News, was appointed a special education/autism instructor at Abingdon Elementary School, effective Feb. 15, by the Gloucester County School Board during its Feb. 22 special meeting.

The board also accepted resignations from special education/autism teacher Jennifer Quiroga, effective Feb. 11, and support employee Betty Simpson, effective March 2. In addition, retirement was approved for Petsworth/Bethel art teacher Janet Satterfield-Griffin and support employee Sally A. Bartley, both effective at the end of the school year.

Among positions paid by supplement, Aaron Bremar was appointed the assistant baseball coach at Page Middle School.
