The Gloucester Ruritan Club, at its Feb. 25 meeting at Olivia’s in the Village, celebrated Valentine’s Day by inviting spouses of club members and also celebrated Morgan Northstein’s birthday. Club member Henry Thompson, known as “Hurricane” to club members and “Hayseed Hank” of the Middle Peninsula Master Naturalists, gave a presentation on 10 reasons why mulch volcanoes are bad. Here, club president Lou Serio, at right, presents Thompson with a club mug. Thompson is also holding the Air Force Bee Ballers March Madness Champion Prognosticator trophy. This year’s trophy went to Thompson, who gets to put his college emblem on the trophy and to keep it for a year.
