The Gloucester Ruritan Club celebrated its 75th anniversary during its June meeting at Ann’s Family Diner.
The meeting opened with “God Bless America” and blessing over the club’s service to the community. Past Ruritan National President Michael Morrison kicked off the meeting by inducting two new members to the club—Meggie Smith and Michael Bombard—followed by secretary Barbara Bauer’s recap of the occupations of the club’s founding fathers and member memories of those who served faithfully.
Del. Keith Hodges (R-Urbanna) and Morrison presented certificates of congratulations on behalf of Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Ruritan National.
Longest serving member Lou Serio reminded the club of its service projects such as the first he helped with 38 years ago to build houses for two families and said he was proud to be a member of the club.
