Lt. C.L. Smith of Gloucester County Sheriff’s Office patrolled Gloucester Point Beach on Memorial Day to remind people that the beach is still only open for exercise and fishing. Here, he talks with Geoff Jordan and Bonnie Hoolahan of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, who decided they needed to get away for the weekend and randomly chose an Airbnb in Gloucester, since it was “a reasonable distance away.” They said they rented a home with a dock and pool for them and their four children. Below, Michael Vasquez, Carmen Bruno, and Efren Vasquez of Newport News visited Gloucester Point on Memorial Day to fish on the pier. They said they wanted to get out on such a fine day and “recover from the quarantine.”
