Tis the season to enjoy local holiday events, such as visiting with Santa Claus, listening to the sounds of the season and attending Christmas-themed parades.
The Gloucester Christmas and Holiday Parade will be held Saturday at 3 p.m., beginning at the Main Street Center parking lot and continuing along Main Street to Botetourt Elementary School.
There will be four equestrian groups, two classic car groups, the Gloucester High School Marching Dukes, the GHS NJROTC, schools, churches, local businesses, community groups and more participating in the parade, according to Denise Carter of Gloucester Parks, Recreation and Tourism. A Santa Claus appearance will finish out the parade.
Following the parade at 5 o’clock, the Page Middle School Select Ensemble will perform at the tree-lighting ceremony at the court circle.
After the parade, the Gloucester Woman’s Club will welcome visitors to Edge Hill House on Main Street for its Open House.
