The Gloucester County Public Library, Main Street Center, will hold its seventh annual Comix Con from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3. This year’s event will celebrate the 85th anniversary of the 1939 movie, “The Wizard of Oz.”
Comix Con will feature workshops, activities, vendors and a costume contest in four categories, birth to four years old, five to 11 years old, 12-17 years old and adults 18 and older. There will also be a separate Wizard of Oz category visitors can compete in.
“The Wicked Witch and Glinda will be judging,” said library coordinator Lisa Thomas.
The Oz witches are being played by Kim Forslund and Marilyn Iglesias of The Ladies Victorian. The two women have always been interested in history and hold programs on different eras, often showcasing historically-accurate fashion from those eras.
“We specialize mainly in clothing,” said Forslund.
