The Gloucester County School Board has begun the process of hiring a new superintendent, with an online survey to receive input from county residents and a public hearing on the matter scheduled for next week.
The public hearing will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday in the T.C. Walker Education Center Auditorium.
Dr. Walter R. Clemons, who has served as Gloucester’s superintendent for the past eight years, announced in January that he will be stepping down on July 1 after a 33-year career in public education.
Up until the public hearing, citizens will be able to let the school board know the qualities they prefer in a new superintendent in the online survey that can be found at surveymonkey.com/r/gloucestersearch.
The Virginia School Boards Association has been selected to assist the board in the search for the next leader of the school division.
