The Gloucester Genealogical Society of Virginia will meet at 10 a.m. Monday in the Community Room of Gloucester Library, Main Street Center.
William “Bill” Lawrence and Frances Rowe Woods will be the program’s guest speakers. They have focused their research capabilities on uncovering the extensive property holdings and previously unknown genealogy of the Dobson family in Gloucester.
Lawrence will speak on the 1800s Dobson land surveys and the Dobson/Rowe genealogy and Woods will relate interesting Dobson family stories and the family’s accomplishments and contributions to the area. They will share the sources and methods they used to unravel this family puzzle. Lawrence will also present examples of superimposing the old survey plats over current county tax maps.
The public is invited to attend.
