Jay Brown of Hayes, received citations from the Virginia Saltwater Fishing Tournament for four sheepshead, all caught at York Spit Reef.
On July 6, Brown caught citation fish weighing 11 pounds, and 10 pounds, 13 ounces, at the reef. He returned July 7 and caught a 12-pound, 2-ounce fish and 11-pound, 8-ounce fish for two additional citations.
These awards were among several made to residents and reported in the July 17 vasaltwaterjournal.com.
Also winning citations for sheepshead with Branden Bausone of Hayes, 11-4 fish caught July 3 at the Chesapeake Bay Bridge-Tunnel, and Nate Dolan of Gloucester, 11-4 fish caught June 25 at CBBT.
Another fisherman, James W. Wilson of Gloucester, has had success with multiple catch-and-release citations for red drum. He reeled in a 54-inch fish and 52-inch fish June 24 at the CBBT;
Neil Wilson of Gloucester, also fishing June 24 at the bridge-tunnel, also caught and released two citation red drum, measuring 54 inches and 47 inches.
