Gloucester crew prepares for spring season

The Gloucester High School crew has started its spring season once again. The new season has also brought changes with a new coaching staff led by head coach Matthew Hudson. After training for more than a month now, the Gloucester crew has become accustomed to the transition.

Hudson comes to the team with a strong history of hard work and winning. Originally from New Jersey, Hudson rowed successfully in high school and at Marietta College in Ohio. He has already begun to push the rowers to achieve the high standards he holds for them.

Also joining the GHS crew staff are assistant coach Van Dunston and volunteers Ben Freudenberg and Grayson Wilt. All three men are dedicated Gloucester crew alumni who work with the 40-member crew in their daily practices.

Saturday marks the beginning of the racing schedule for the Dukes who will travel to Mathews for the season-opening regatta at Williams Wharf. The team has worked hard and will use these races to put their training to the test.
