Gloucester board begins year with organizational meeting

The Gloucester County School Board began its first meeting of the calendar year with its annual organizational meeting, welcoming four new members to the board.
New members include Leonne Arsenovic (Ware), Deborah McDonough (At-Large), Cindy Saulman (At-Large) and Kari Scruggs (Abingdon). Returning faces are Troy Andersen (Gloucester Point), Carlton Drew (York) and Karen Espinoza (Petsworth).
Andersen was reelected as chair of the board by a vote of 6-1 with Andersen abstaining from the vote. Arsenovic was chosen as vice chair by a vote of 6-1 with Arsenovic abstaining.
As part of its organizational meeting, the board assigned members to various committees, boards and commissions. They were assigned as follows:
