Following a public hearing during the board’s Nov. 8 monthly meeting, Gloucester supervisors approved adjustments to the county’s FY 2024 budget and appropriations.
Whenever a budget is increased by more than 1 percent, a public hearing is required by state code.
Director of Financial Services Maria Calloway explained the biggest portions of the budget amendment requested.
Calloway said that $3.65 million was requested for the utilities fund for the automated meter infrastructure that was just passed. In addition, $2.47 million was also requested for the schools to reflect additional revenue the school division anticipates receiving from the state.
Not all of the appropriations in the budget amendment were appropriated or requested during the meeting, but could be added at a later date.
