Gloria White Wood, age 92, of Cobbs Creek, died at her home on Monday, November 6, 2023. Gloria was born in Virginia to the late James and Bertie Payne White. Gloria worked as a secretary for the Montessori School in Gloucester for many years. She loved singing in the church choir and was a very active member for 70 years. In her free time, she enjoyed shopping and going out to eat with her friends.

Gloria was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Wayne Wood Sr. She is survived by her son, Wayne Wood; granddaughters, Kristin Wood-Brown (Airik Brown) and Miranda Wood, and many beloved friends. A Celebration of Life service was held at Mathews Chapel United Methodist Church on Saturday, November 11, 2023, at 11 a.m., conducted by the Rev. Dr. Marcus Stallworth. Inurnment will be held at a later date at Arlington National Cemetery. In memory of Gloria, contributions may be made to Mathews Chapel UMC, 418 Buckley Hall Road, Cobbs Creek, Va. 23035.
