Gleaning Baptist Church, Gloucester, is holding “Operation Fill the Truck,” a food drive throughout May.Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the church’s Good Samaritan Ministry has been offering a drive-thru food pick-up at the church every Wednesday from noon-2 p.m.
They have been providing food for the community and anyone else who may be in need. The church has been able to feed 100-165 families each week.
The Rev. Stevens Burrell of Gleaning Baptist said that “this [current situation] has been challenging, but God has made a way.”
“There are many out of work, out of school, out of money and most of all, out of hope,” said Gleaning Church’s secretary Selina Gist. “We ask that you show God’s love and be a blessing to others and show how strong the Gloucester community is by caring for our neighbors and showing love by helping one another.”
